History of Mary Josielin Angot

   Mary J. Angot
                     

 Mary Josielin is a 25 year old woman who is an immigrant from the Islands of the                   Philippines. She is an alumni from both Skyline College and Notre Dame de Namur University.

Introduction:

Here Ms. Angot talks about the basics, such as where she is from, and how old she was when she moved here to America.



Education:

She explains how education to her and her family is important.

"At Mills College, Jade Snow had found a few female role models her professors, the dean for whom she had worked, and the college president. She wanted to be a professional woman like them." (Chinese American Women defense Workers, pg 151),


Diversity:

Here she talks about the change in diversities she experienced here in the States and talks about her transition.
"These experiences encouraged young activist to return to their own roots and recover their culture and history" (Competing Visions, pg 375)



Identity:

Mary discusses her identity and who she know she is.
"Collectivistic cultures can be characterized as those groups of people who emphasize the fundamental relatedness of individuals to each other, which are often typically expressed by a strong desire among such individuals to fit in, prioritize the groups goal" ( Brown Skin, White Minds, pg 107).
