Christopher Sein-Lwin is my father and he was born in what is currently known as Yangon, Burma. He moved to the United States, specifically Pennsylvania, in 1971 when he was just 18 years old with his huge family of 8. This family included his father, mother, an older sister, a younger sister, three younger brothers, and of course, himself.

Origin and the Process of Moving to the United States
Coming from the humble beginnings of the third world country, Burma, the Sein-Lwin family begins their journey to America in April of 1971.
Moving to California
*"A majority [of Asian Americans] came [to California] with few resources, poor English language skills, little understanding of American culture, and a history of emotional and physical trauma."

Christopher was eager to move to sunny California for better and more opportunities.
Employment in the Bay Area
With this new California lifestyle, plenty of opportunities arose. From retail worker to a medical device company named Johnson & Johnson, this land is definitely one of opportunity to prosper.
Discrimination
*"The war created a favorable climate for Chinese Americans to be accepted by American society..." - Chinese American Women Defense Workers AJA (Page 140)*

Though there is much discrimination among the Asian race in California's past, Christopher experienced friendly attitudes and believes that a friendly demeanor will reciprocate friendliness from all other races.
Good Ol' American Patriotism
*"Here, a middle-aged Chinese American woman was being recognized as a patriotic hardworking defense worker, who was doing her best to contribute to the nation's war effort." - Chinese American Women Defense Workers AJA (Page 139)*

Because of some of the harsh times in Burma, Christopher is glad to call America his new home. He works hard to move up in his occupation and is a contributor to the nation's economy.
American Favorites
Some of Christopher's favorites in America. Hollywood cowboy movies, steaks, & cheeseburgers...what's not to love?
My dad approves of this blog.
